The Gay Pride Parade would be the most crowded event and that takes place for 2 hours running from 5-15 streets along Ocean Drive Sunday Apfrom noon-2pm. This keeps the traffic and activities in one party zone. This is the one limited section of town the City designates for block parties at New Years, Art Deco Weekend,4th of July and other big event weekends. That part of the strip is closed to traffic and will have a block party atmosphere. Ocean Drive Beach hosts the weekend events at beachfront stages from 11-14 Streets. Note that three (3) area hotels are hosting single night events with limited crowds (see below)

Hope you end up with a great spot and a great trip.īefore you decide - this is the schedule. So, that is kind of what we are looking for that doesn't take 8 hours to get to. We go to Hawaii for a couple of weeks each year, and love to go to Waikiki where there is lots and lots of beach activity, great shopping, easy sightseeing, lots of great places to eat, and lots of places to relax and just enjoy. We even think if we enjoy Miami Beach, that we might go back again next year and spend 2 or 3 nights in Key West as well. So, we are going to try Miami Beach, but I just personally would not go during that week you are considering. Where we stayed on Marco, the Marco Island Marriott, was really not near much shopping or restaurants at all.

We like it because we think that we won't have to jump in the car and drive somewhere to go do something, or go shopping, or get a meal. So, this year, we are going to try South Beach and hope it has more activity. We went to Marco Island last year for the first time, and found it to be really just lacking in any excitement at all. It really depends on what you are looking for I think.
